Adding to the already stellar lineup of screenings, “W.E.” made its Venice Film Festival premiere at Palazzo Del Cinema on Thursday night (September 1).

The film’s impressive roster of stars including Madonna, Andrea Riseborough, Abbie Cornish, James D’Arcy, and Oscar Isaac all hit the red carpet with the lovely Marisa Tomei and designer Valentino also turning up for the evening debut.

As for the film, “W.E.” sounds like it’s going to be an unforgettable flick, and is scheduled to hit theaters in the USA on December 9th, 2011.

According to a source, the film is “a two-tiered romantic drama focusing on the affair between King Edward VIII and American divorcée Wallis Simpson and a contemporary romance between a married woman and a Russian security guard.”

Coming to the defense of her son, Cher has spoken out against critics of Chaz Bono's casting as the first transgender contestant on "Dancing With the Stars."

After hearing numerous disses about Chaz's stint on season 13 of the show, Cher took to her Twitter, writing, "Chaz is Being Viciously Attacked on Blogs & Message boards about being on DWTS! This is Still America right? It took guts 2 do it."
